Fueling for Change

At Shiptech, we are leading the charge as a proudly South African supplier and distributor of petroleum products. But it doesn’t end there. We believe that our independence helps us to deliver strong results. From the very beginning we have done things differently; always thinking outside of the box, wanting to give back, rather than take away. We are determined not to be defined by our industry but rather inspired by a spirit of generosity. We make sure that at every turn we are asking ourselves: How Can We Make A Difference!
As an impassioned local business that is run by South Africans for South Africans, everything we do is driven by our desire to see our people prosper and our communities thrive. It’s what we call Fuelling For Change.
We believe that this desire to uplift our people, encourages them to shape their place within the industry, and as such, reshape the industry and how we do business within it. This, in turn, influences the ways in which we operate, and how we serve our customers and their communities. By partnering with local businesses at every opportunity, we are giving back in ways that not only uplift but empowering too.
Shiptech’s recent partnership with the Pediatric Care Africa campaign demonstrates this commitment to moving our nation forward, one Shiptech-fuelled kilometre at a time.
Over 30 years ago, Dr Andre Hattingh, founder of Paediatric Care Africa, made a promise he is determined to keep. He believed that all children have the absolute right to a healthy life; and that Paediatric Care Africa’s primary mission is to ensure that a sick child is seen by a doctor or specialist, and is given the treatment and medication that they need and deserve. This right to a healthy life includes food security and clean drinking water.
A noble challenge, but by no means an easy one. Particularly now with the Covid-19 pandemic putting a stop to any fundraising efforts traditionally run by the organisation. And with no relief or assistance from the South African government, desperate funds are needed to ensure Dr Hattingh stays true to his promise.
Earlier this year, in an attempt to raise awareness and draw attention to an unprecedented increase in the demand for medical assistance for vulnerable children, Dr Hattingh took to the dusty roads of South Africa onboard a 6095B John Deere Tractor. He made his way across 5 provinces for an estimated distance of 2500km, and as the fuel sponsor, we are humbled and privileged to have been a part of a story that is trying to create a bigger picture. This is how we are Fuelling For Change.
This is how we make a difference. This is how we make a difference. Our 1000 litres of Shiptech Diesel helped to fuel the movement and the conversation that would work towards creating safe and caring environments for sick, disabled and impoverished children and their families. To give them access to life-changing surgery and medical
care, to make a real difference in the lives of the castaway kids of South Africa.
